The Hobby Lobby has stopped its insurance companies from providing emergency contraceptives such as Ella, or the day after pill. The Affordable Care Act requires the employers who provide insurance to pay for these things. Hobby Lobby’s defendant, Paul Clement, defends by saying that Hobby Lobby should be protected under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 which says that “Government shall not substantially burden a person’s exercise of religion even if the burden results from a rule of general applicability." Now who is Sebelius? Sebelius is a woman who recently resigned and worked as a Health and Human services politician who is going against Hobby Lobby. Hobby lobby says they have the right to religious freedom and do not support killing life after it is conceived. Representing Hobby Lobby, argues against the Affordable Care Act and also marriage equality. Donald Verilli represented the government in the case spoke for the government. Verillli and the Government argued that Hobby Lobby is not a religious organization and that it is the employees own the rights for their health insurance and that Hobby Lobby shouldn’t be deciding for them, they need to provide these things, as it is the law.
I am for Sebelius. Hobby Lobby Is a business not a person. They shouldn’t be allowed to take away benefits because they think it’s wrong. That is not their job and the law is the law. Hobby Lobby should be fined and forced to give their employees contraceptives. It is important to cite evidence to make your argument strong and valid.
