Chevron’s Lobbyist Now Runs the Congressional Science Committee
Chevron is the second largest oil company in the US. " one of Chevron’s top lobbyists, Stephen Sayle, has become a senior staff member of the House Committee on Science, the standing congressional committee charged with “maintaining our scientific and technical leadership in the world.” Sayle was a lobbyist Dow Lohnes Government Strategies, a lobbying firm retained by Chevron to influence Congress. The house science committee have not been supporting environmental improvements. They had a hearing in December to discredit man made global warming. They try to advertise that they are pro environment but truly aren't.
This represents how lobbyists influence politics and that interest groups can gain power. It is terrible that a big business can have so much power in government and shouldn't be allowed.
I do not believe someone who is affiliated with a large profit motive business should have any power at all. They can easily influence policy for their benefit and not the people. this is corrupt!
